Van Orhari
Van Orhari is an Atlanta-based sound artist and writer working on issues in philosophy, technology, and theories of mediation. Works include the full-length album Retrogress Transmissions, the radioplay Playing Respects and the installation piece Grass Allergy, as well as various DJ mixes/performances and live sound collage improvisations. Her practice focuses on inventorying the effects of media on consciousness, exploring sources of non-hierarchical communication, and democratizing art via technology.

Her sound art collaboration with Adia Davina Reed was performed at the Chronochrome exhibition at South River Art Studios, using a sampler and vocal effects pedal. Orhari has explored audiovisual feedback loops with multiple visual artists, such as her collaboration Freighthopping, a mixed media collage with Kit E. As one of the founding members of the theory fiction magazine N.A.T.G.E.O., she has contributed writing and music to every issue to date.
